Blur Image
Blur a whole photo or just a face, number plate or text in your browser. Strength slider, batch, no upload.
Open a photo, keep Blur selected and drag the strength slider to soften the picture. To blur only one part, such as a face, a car number plate or a name on a screenshot, choose Selected area and drag a box over it on the preview. Download the result when it looks right.
The blur is close to a Gaussian blur, smooth with no hard edges, and its strength scales with the size of the picture so the preview matches the full-size result. Your photos are processed on your own device and never uploaded, so you can safely blur private details before sharing.
How to use Blur Image
- Choose or drop the photo.
- Keep Blur selected and set the strength.
- Choose Selected area and drag over the part to blur, or keep Whole image.
- Download the blurred image.
Blur a face, plate or text
Sharing a photo of a street, a party or a screenshot often means showing things that should stay private. With Selected area you blur just that detail and keep the rest of the picture sharp. For text and numbers, raise the strength until nothing can be read; a light blur may leave large text readable.
If you need to hide several separate areas, blur one, download, open the result again and blur the next. For a mosaic look instead of a soft blur, choose Pixelate.
Soft backgrounds
A blurred photo makes a calm background for a title on a slide, a quote card or a website banner, because the text stands out against it. Use the whole image with a medium strength. The full resolution is kept, and JPG, PNG and WebP keep their format.
How strong should the blur be?
The strength slider sets the blur radius as a share of the picture size, up to 4% of its longest side, so a setting gives the same look on a small screenshot and a large camera photo. Around 20 to 40 softens a background while shapes stay visible. For faces, plates and text, go to 70 or more and zoom into the preview to check that nothing can be read.
The blur is made from three box blur passes in each direction, which together closely match a Gaussian blur, the kind used by photo editors. Edges of a selected area are blurred only with pixels from inside the area, so the sharp parts of the picture do not bleed into the blurred box and the boundary stays clean.
Transparent PNG images keep their transparency, and the result is saved at the full size of the original.
Frequently asked questions
Can I blur only part of a picture?
Yes. Choose Selected area and drag a box over the part you want to blur.
Can a blur be reversed?
A strong blur cannot be undone from the saved file. Use enough strength that the detail is gone, not just soft.
Is the photo uploaded?
No. The blur is applied in your browser.
Can I blur many photos at once?
Yes. Choose several; the same blur is applied to each and they download as a ZIP.
