Schema Markup Generator
Generate JSON-LD schema markup for articles, products, local businesses, FAQs, events, recipes, jobs and more, and validate existing markup.
Choose a schema type, fill in a short form and copy ready-to-use JSON-LD structured data for your page. The generator covers the types search engines use most: Article, Product with price and rating, LocalBusiness with address and opening hours, Organization, Person, FAQPage, Event, Recipe, BreadcrumbList, VideoObject, JobPosting and WebSite. As you type, it checks the result against Google's required properties and value formats, so you can see what is missing before you publish.
Switch to Validate to check markup you already have: paste JSON-LD or the full HTML source of a page, and every structured-data block is checked for missing required and recommended properties, wrong date and duration formats, relative URLs, invalid currencies, prices with symbols, impossible ratings and more. Nothing is sent to a server.
How to use Schema Markup Generator
- Choose Generate and pick a schema type.
- Fill in the form; required fields are marked with a star.
- Fix anything listed under the form, then copy the script tag into your page.
- Use Validate to check markup on existing pages.
Features
- 12 common schema types with simple forms
- Questions, breadcrumbs, ingredients and steps as rows
- Opening hours like Mo-Fr 09:00-18:00 turned into schema
- Live checks against Google's required properties
- Validator for JSON-LD and whole HTML pages, including @graph
- Runs in your browser; nothing is sent
What schema markup does
Structured data describes a page's content in a standard vocabulary, schema.org, that search engines understand. It does not change how the page looks to visitors, but it can make the page eligible for rich results such as star ratings, prices and stock on products, event dates, recipe cards with cooking times, job listings and breadcrumb trails in place of the address. JSON-LD, a block of JSON inside a script tag, is the format Google recommends because it sits apart from the visible HTML and is easy to maintain.
| Type | Use it for | Required by Google |
|---|---|---|
| Product | Product and shop pages | name, and offers, review or aggregateRating |
| LocalBusiness | Shops, clinics, restaurants, offices | name, address |
| Article | News, blog posts, guides | headline recommended with image, dates, author |
| Event | Concerts, workshops, webinars | name, startDate, location |
| Recipe | Recipe pages | name, image |
| JobPosting | Vacancies | title, description, datePosted, hiringOrganization, location |
| BreadcrumbList | Any page in a hierarchy | itemListElement with position and name |
| VideoObject | Pages with a main video | name, thumbnailUrl, uploadDate |
Formats that trip people up
Dates must be ISO 8601, such as 2026-10-17 or 2026-10-17T19:30:00+05:30 with the time zone. Durations use ISO 8601 too, so a 1 hour 30 minute recipe is PT1H30M; the generator converts minutes for you. Prices are plain numbers without currency symbols or thousands separators, such as 1499.00, with the currency in priceCurrency as a three-letter code like INR. URLs must be absolute, starting with https://. Availability and event status use schema.org addresses such as https://schema.org/InStock. The validator flags each of these.
Adding markup to your site
Paste the script tag anywhere in the page's HTML, usually in the head. Content management systems such as WordPress have plugins and theme settings for structured data, and Shopify themes include product markup already; check those pages with the validator to avoid duplicate or conflicting blocks. The markup must describe content that is visible on the page: marking up reviews, prices or FAQs that visitors cannot see breaks Google's guidelines and can lead to a manual action.
After publishing
Test the live page with Google's Rich Results Test and watch the Enhancements reports in Google Search Console, which list errors across your whole site. Valid markup makes a page eligible for rich results, but Google decides when to show them. Since 2023 Google shows FAQ rich results only for well-known government and health websites and no longer shows HowTo rich results, so the FAQ markup still helps other search engines and AI assistants understand the page but may not change how it looks in Google.
Frequently asked questions
What is JSON-LD?
A way to add structured data as JSON inside a script tag of type application/ld+json. It is the format Google recommends for schema markup.
Does schema markup improve rankings?
Not directly, but rich results such as stars, prices and event dates can make a listing more visible and raise clicks.
How do I add local business schema?
Choose LocalBusiness, pick your business type, fill in the name, address, phone and opening hours, and paste the script into your site's pages.
How do I check my existing markup?
Choose Validate and paste the page's HTML source or its JSON-LD. Every block is checked for errors and warnings.
Why do I get a date format error?
Dates must be ISO 8601, such as 2026-10-17 or 2026-10-17T09:30:00+05:30, not 17/10/2026.
Is my content sent anywhere?
No. Markup is generated and checked in your browser.
