Text Reverser
Write text backwards, reverse each word, the word order or the line order, and make upside-down or mirror text. Emoji-safe and private.
Type or paste text and get it backwards instantly. The Text Reverser can write a whole text backwards, reverse the letters of each word while keeping the words in place, reverse the order of the words, or reverse the order of the lines. For fun, it also turns text upside down or into mirror writing with look-alike Unicode letters that you can paste into chats, games and social media.
Unlike simple reversers, it keeps emoji, skin tones, flags and accented letters intact, so a thumbs-up stays a thumbs-up instead of turning into broken symbols. Everything runs in your browser as you type.
How to use Text Reverser
- Type or paste your text, or click Sample.
- Choose a mode: Text backwards, Each word, Word order, Line order, Upside down or Mirror.
- The result updates as you type.
- Copy the result or download it as a text file.
Features
- Text backwards: the whole text reversed, last character first.
- Each word reversed in place: olleH dlrow.
- Word order reversed on each line, spacing kept.
- Line order reversed, last line first.
- Upside-down text with turned look-alike letters.
- Mirror text: each line flipped left to right.
- Emoji, flags, skin tones and accents are never broken.
- Live and private: nothing is uploaded.
The six ways to reverse text
Each mode changes something different. This is what the text Hello world becomes in each one.
| Mode | What is reversed | Hello world becomes |
|---|---|---|
| Text backwards | Every character of the whole text | dlrow olleH |
| Each word | The letters inside each word | olleH dlrow |
| Word order | The order of words on each line | world Hello |
| Line order | The order of the lines | Unchanged for one line |
| Upside down | Turned 180 degrees with look-alike letters | plɹoʍ ollǝH |
| Mirror | Each line flipped left to right | blɿow ollɘH |
Why emoji don't break here
Computers store many visible characters as several pieces. A thumbs-up with a skin tone is two code points, a flag is two regional letters, a family emoji can be seven pieces joined together, and an accented letter may be a plain letter plus a separate accent. A naive reverser flips those pieces too, producing the wrong emoji, two letters instead of a flag, or an accent on the wrong letter. This tool first splits the text into user-perceived characters with the browser's text segmenter, then reverses those, so every emoji and accented letter comes out exactly as it went in.
Upside-down and mirror text
There are no true upside-down or mirrored letters in a font, so these modes swap each letter for a Unicode character that looks like it turned or flipped: a becomes ɐ, e becomes ǝ, and the question mark becomes ¿. Upside-down text is also reversed so it reads correctly when you turn your phone around. Most letters, digits and common punctuation have a look-alike; characters without one are kept as they are. The result can be pasted anywhere that accepts Unicode, such as WhatsApp, Instagram, Discord or gaming nicknames.
Things to know before you use it
Upside-down and mirror text are made of unusual characters, so screen readers read them letter by letter or not at all, search engines do not match them to the normal words, and some apps show empty boxes for a few of them. Use them for fun, not for important information. Reversing is its own undo for the backwards, each-word, word-order and line-order modes: reverse the result again to get the original text back.
Uses for reversed text
People reverse text to make puzzles and riddles, create secret notes for children's games, check palindromes such as racecar or a man a plan a canal panama, write mirror writing like Leonardo da Vinci, design logos and tattoos that read in a mirror, reverse the order of a list or a log file so the newest line comes first, and add playful upside-down messages to social media posts.
Frequently asked questions
Is the text reverser free and private?
Yes. It is free, and the text is reversed in your browser as you type. Nothing is uploaded or saved.
How do I write text backwards?
Paste your text and keep the mode on Text backwards. The result shows the last character first; copy it with one click.
Will emoji and accents survive?
Yes. The text is split into visible characters before reversing, so emoji with skin tones, flags and accented letters stay intact.
How do I reverse the order of words but keep each word readable?
Choose Word order. Each line keeps its words, but the last word comes first; the spacing between words is kept.
Can I flip text upside down for Instagram or WhatsApp?
Yes. Choose Upside down and copy the result. It uses Unicode look-alike letters that paste into most apps.
Why do some characters stay the same in upside-down text?
Some letters and symbols have no upside-down look-alike in Unicode, or already look the same turned over, like o, s, x and z.
Can I reverse the lines of a log file?
Yes. Choose Line order to put the last line first, or open the file with the Open file button.
