Business Days Calculator
Count working days between two dates without weekends and your holidays, or find the date N business days before or after a date.
Deadlines, delivery estimates, notice periods and payment terms are often counted in business days, not calendar days. The Business Days Calculator counts the working days between two dates, skipping weekends and any holidays you add, and also shows how many calendar days, weekend days and holidays fall in the period. Choose whether to count the start and end dates.
Switch to Add business days to find the date that is a number of working days after — or, with a negative number, before — a given date: "10 business days from today" or "5 working days before the deadline". The weekend can be Saturday and Sunday, Friday and Saturday (common in the Middle East), Sunday only or Friday only. Holidays you add are kept in the page link, so you can bookmark your list.
How to use Business Days Calculator
- Choose Business days between dates or Add business days.
- Enter the start date, and the end date or the number of business days.
- Choose your weekend and add any public holidays or days off.
- Read the business days or the resulting date.
Features
- Working days between two dates, with or without the start and end dates.
- Date N business days before or after a date.
- Weekend options: Sat–Sun, Fri–Sat, Sunday only, Friday only.
- Your own list of holidays and days off.
- Calendar days, weekend days and holidays shown separately.
- Holidays saved in the link for bookmarking; nothing sent anywhere.
How business days are counted
Each day in the period is checked: weekend days and the holidays you added are skipped, the rest are business days. A holiday that falls on a weekend is counted once, as a weekend day. By default both the start and end dates are counted when they are working days — Monday 12 to Friday 23 October 2026 is 10 business days — and you can switch either off.
| Example | Result |
|---|---|
| Mon 12 Oct to Fri 23 Oct 2026, both counted | 10 business days, 12 calendar days |
| Same, with Wed 14 Oct as a holiday | 9 business days |
| 1 business day after Friday 16 Oct 2026 | Monday 19 Oct 2026 |
| 10 business days after Mon 12 Oct 2026, holiday 14 Oct | Tuesday 27 Oct 2026 |
Adding business days
When adding business days, the start date itself is not counted: one business day after a Friday is the following Monday, and one business day after a Monday is Tuesday. This matches how shipping estimates and contract terms such as "within 5 business days" are usually read. Enter a negative number to count backwards, for example to find the last day to send a notice that must arrive 10 working days before a deadline.
Holidays and weekends around the world
Public holidays differ by country, region and even company, so the calculator doesn't guess them: add the ones that apply to you, such as national holidays, a company shutdown or your own days off. Most countries have a Saturday–Sunday weekend; several countries in the Middle East use Friday–Saturday, and some workplaces work six days a week with only Sunday or Friday off. The weekend option covers these patterns.
Business days vs calendar days
Some deadlines use calendar days, which count every day including weekends and holidays — for those, use the Date Difference Calculator. Legal deadlines can have special rules, such as moving to the next working day when they fall on a weekend; check the rules that apply to you. For payroll, a year has about 260 weekdays before holidays, which is a handy reference for daily rates.
