Pregnancy Due Date Calculator
Estimate your baby's due date from your last period, conception date or IVF transfer, with how many weeks pregnant you are and key dates.
Find out when your baby is due. Enter the first day of your last menstrual period and your usual cycle length, a known conception date, or the date of an IVF embryo transfer, and the calculator shows your estimated due date, how many weeks and days pregnant you are today, your trimester, how many days are left and the likely window for the birth.
A table lists the key dates of the pregnancy: the estimated conception date, the end of the first trimester, the halfway point when the anatomy scan usually happens, the start of the third trimester, full term and the due date itself. The calculation happens in your browser; nothing is stored or sent.
How to use Pregnancy Due Date Calculator
- Choose what you know: last period, conception date or IVF transfer.
- Enter the date (and your cycle length, or the embryo age for IVF).
- Read your due date, how far along you are and your trimester.
- Check the key dates table for scans and milestones.
Features
- Due date by Naegele's rule, adjusted for your cycle length.
- From a known conception date or an IVF transfer (day 3 or day 5 embryo).
- Weeks and days pregnant today, trimester and days to go.
- Likely birth window from 38 to 42 weeks.
- Key dates: conception, trimesters, anatomy scan, full term.
- Private: runs in your browser, nothing stored or sent.
How the due date is calculated
Pregnancy is counted from the first day of the last menstrual period, about two weeks before conception, so a full-term pregnancy is 40 weeks or 280 days. This is Naegele's rule. If your cycles are longer or shorter than 28 days, ovulation happens later or earlier, so the calculator moves the due date by the difference.
| You know | Due date |
|---|---|
| First day of last period, 28-day cycle | Period date + 280 days |
| First day of last period, other cycle length | Period date + 280 days + (cycle length − 28) |
| Conception date | Conception date + 266 days |
| IVF transfer, day 5 embryo | Transfer date + 261 days |
| IVF transfer, day 3 embryo | Transfer date + 263 days |
Trimesters and milestones
The first trimester runs to the end of week 13, the second from week 14 to week 27, and the third from week 28 until birth. Many countries offer a dating scan around 11 to 14 weeks and an anatomy scan around 18 to 20 weeks. From 37 weeks a baby is considered full term. If the pregnancy goes beyond 41 to 42 weeks, your care team will talk with you about the next steps.
How accurate is a due date?
Only about 1 in 25 babies is born on the due date itself. Most arrive within two weeks either side, which is why the calculator shows a birth window from 38 to 42 weeks. An early ultrasound measuring the baby is the most accurate way to date a pregnancy, and if it differs from the date by your last period, your midwife or doctor will usually go by the scan. IVF dates are very precise because the exact age of the embryo is known.
Weeks pregnant explained
"8 weeks 3 days" means 8 full weeks and 3 days have passed since the first day of your last period (or the equivalent date from conception or IVF). Because the count starts before conception, at 8 weeks the embryo itself is about 6 weeks old. This way of counting, called gestational age, is used by doctors and midwives everywhere, so your dates will match those in your notes.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my due date?
Add 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last period. If your cycle is longer or shorter than 28 days, add or subtract the difference. The calculator does this for you.
I don't know the date of my last period. What can I do?
Use a known conception date if you have one, or ask for a dating ultrasound, which is the most accurate method.
How is an IVF due date calculated?
Add 261 days to the transfer date for a day 5 embryo (blastocyst) or 263 days for a day 3 embryo.
Can my due date change?
Yes. If an early ultrasound gives a different date, your care team may update it.
How many weeks pregnant am I?
The calculator shows it in weeks and days, counted from your last period, the way doctors count.
Is my information private?
Yes. Everything is calculated in your browser. Your dates appear only in the page link and are never sent anywhere.
When is a baby full term?
From 37 weeks. Between 39 and 40 weeks is considered the ideal time for birth when there are no complications.
