Date Difference Calculator
Count the days between two dates in years, months, weeks and days, or add and subtract days, weeks, months and years from a date.
How many days are there between two dates? Enter a start date and an end date and the Date Difference Calculator shows the gap in years, months and days, the total number of days and weeks, the number of weekdays (Monday to Friday), and the same time in hours, minutes and seconds. Choose whether to count the end date too — useful for holidays, hotel stays and contracts that run "from and including" both dates.
Switch to Add or subtract to find the date that is a number of years, months, weeks and days before or after another date: 90 days from today, 6 months after a contract starts, or 2 weeks before an event. The calendar logic handles different month lengths, leap years and daylight saving time correctly.

How the difference is counted
Total days are counted by calendar date, so a period always has the same number of days no matter what time it is or whether a daylight saving change falls in between. For years, months and days, whole months are counted first and the rest in days: from 15 January to 20 March is 2 months and 5 days. When the start date doesn't exist in a shorter month, the month ends on its last day, so from 31 January one month later is the end of February, as most people would count it.
| From | To | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Jan 2026 | 31 Dec 2026 | 11 months, 30 days · 364 days |
| 1 Jan 2026 | 31 Dec 2026, end date included | 1 year · 365 days |
| 31 Jan 2024 | 1 Mar 2024 | 1 month, 1 day (2024 is a leap year) |
| 29 Feb 2020 | 28 Feb 2024 | 3 years, 11 months, 30 days |
Include the end date or not?
By default the calculator counts the days between the two dates, which is the same as counting the end date but not the start date: from Monday to Friday is 4 days. Some situations count both: a holiday from Monday to Friday inclusive is 5 days, and legal or contract periods sometimes say "from and including". Tick "Include the end date" to add that extra day.
Adding and subtracting dates
Years and months are added first, then weeks and days. Adding a month keeps the same day of the month when it exists and otherwise uses the last day of the month: 31 January plus one month is 28 February (29 in a leap year), and 29 February plus one year is 28 February. Days and weeks are always exact calendar days, so 90 days from 15 October 2026 is 13 January 2027 and 90 days before it is 17 July 2026.
Weekdays and business days
The weekday count includes Monday to Friday and skips Saturdays and Sundays. It doesn't know about public holidays, which differ by country and region. For deadlines, delivery times and notice periods that must skip holidays or use a different weekend, use the Business Days Calculator, where you can add your own holidays and choose the weekend days.
Frequently asked questions
How many days are between two dates?
Enter both dates and the calculator shows the total days, plus the same period in years, months, weeks and days.
Does it count the start or end date?
It counts the days between them (like counting the end date but not the start). Tick Include the end date to count both.
How do I add 90 days to a date?
Choose Add or subtract, enter the date and 90 in Days, and read the result.
Are leap years handled?
Yes. February has 29 days in leap years, and all month lengths are taken into account.
Does daylight saving time change the result?
No. Days are counted by calendar date, so a time change never adds or removes a day.
Can I count weekdays only?
Yes, Monday to Friday are shown. For holidays or a different weekend, use the Business Days Calculator.
Is anything stored?
No. Dates stay in your browser and in the page link only.
