Celsius to Fahrenheit Converter
Convert Celsius to Fahrenheit instantly, with the formula and a °C to °F chart.
Type a temperature in degrees Celsius and read it in Fahrenheit as you type. Kelvin is shown as well, for science homework or lab work.
Celsius is used for weather and cooking in most countries, while weather reports, oven dials and recipes in the United States use Fahrenheit. Negative temperatures work too: just type the minus sign.
How to use Celsius to Fahrenheit Converter
- Enter the temperature in °C (for example 25 or -5).
- Read the temperature in °F immediately.
- See Kelvin in the list below if you need it.
- Swap to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius.
How to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit
Multiply the Celsius temperature by 9/5 (which is 1.8) and add 32. For example, 25 °C times 1.8 is 45, plus 32 gives 77 °F. Water freezes at 0 °C, which is 32 °F, and boils at 100 °C, which is 212 °F at sea level.
A rough mental shortcut is to double the Celsius value and add 30: 25 °C gives about 80 °F. It is close for everyday weather but drifts at high temperatures, so the converter always uses the exact formula.

Temperatures worth knowing
Normal body temperature is about 37 °C, or 98.6 °F. A comfortable room is around 20 °C (68 °F). Ovens are often set to 180 °C in European recipes, which is 356 °F, usually rounded to 350 °F in American cookbooks.
At minus 40 the two scales meet: -40 °C is exactly -40 °F, the only temperature where both read the same.
Kelvin as well
Scientists use the Kelvin scale, which starts at absolute zero. Add 273.15 to a Celsius temperature to get Kelvin: 25 °C is 298.15 K. The converter shows Kelvin next to Fahrenheit, so you can use it for chemistry and physics homework as well as weather and cooking.
Negative Kelvin values do not exist, so a temperature below absolute zero has no meaning on any of the three scales.
Frequently asked questions
What is the formula for Celsius to Fahrenheit?
°F = °C × 9/5 + 32, which is the same as °C × 1.8 + 32.
