GB to MB Converter
Convert gigabytes to megabytes instantly, in decimal (1000) and binary (1024) units.
Enter a size in gigabytes and see it in megabytes immediately, with kilobytes, terabytes and the binary units listed too.
Mobile data plans, upload limits and email attachment limits are often given in megabytes, while storage and plans are sold in gigabytes. This page helps you see exactly how many megabytes you have.
How to use GB to MB Converter
- Enter the size in GB (for example 2).
- Read the size in MB as you type.
- See MiB and GiB in the list of all units.
- Swap to convert MB to GB.
How to convert gigabytes to megabytes
In decimal units, multiply gigabytes by 1000: 2 GB is 2000 MB. Storage makers, phone networks and most websites use these decimal units.
In binary units, 1 GiB is 1024 MiB, so 2 GiB is 2048 MiB. Memory (RAM) is usually counted in binary units even when it is labelled GB.
If a program shows sizes in GiB, choose the binary units in the converter instead: one gibibyte is 1024 mebibytes, so 2 GiB is 2048 MiB. Both systems are listed under the result, which makes it easy to compare the numbers your phone, computer and cloud storage show.
GB to MB chart (decimal)
MB = GB × 1000.

| 2 | 2000 |
| 4 | 4000 |
| 8 | 8000 |
| 16 | 16000 |
| 32 | 32000 |
| 64 | 64000 |
| 128 | 128000 |

| 512 | 512000 |
| 1000 | 1000000 |
Data plans and attachments
A 2 GB monthly plan is 2000 MB. If a video call uses about 500 MB per hour, that plan lasts about 4 hours of calls. Email services often limit attachments to about 25 MB, so a 1 GB video is 40 times too large to send by email.
To make files smaller, compress images, videos or PDFs first, or put several files in a ZIP archive.
Terabytes and beyond
Hard drives are now sold in terabytes. One terabyte is 1000 gigabytes, or one million megabytes, in decimal units. A 1 TB drive holds about 1000 GB of files, and a computer will show it as about 931.32 GiB.
The converter lists terabytes and tebibytes too, so you can check drive sizes the same way.
