WebP to JPG Converter
Convert WebP images to JPG that every app and printer opens — in your browser, no upload.
Images saved from websites often arrive as WebP files that some programs, photo printers and upload forms refuse. Drop them here, keep JPG as the output and download images that open everywhere.
You can convert one picture or a whole batch and download them as a ZIP file. Choose the JPG quality and, for images with transparent areas, the background colour that fills them. Nothing is uploaded: the conversion runs in your browser.
How to use WebP to JPG Converter
- Drop your WebP files or choose them.
- Keep JPG selected under Convert to.
- Pick a background colour for transparent areas (white by default).
- Download the JPG files or the ZIP.
Why convert WebP to JPG
JPG is the most widely supported image format: every operating system, photo viewer, editor, printer kiosk and upload form accepts it. WebP is newer, and some older software and services still cannot open it.
Converting to JPG is the simplest way to share, print or edit an image you downloaded as WebP.
Choose the JPG quality to balance size and detail. The default setting suits most photos; raise it for images you plan to print or edit further, and lower it for email attachments or messaging apps where a small file matters more than fine detail.
WebP and JPG compared
How the two formats differ.
| Feature | WebP | JPG |
|---|---|---|
| Transparency | Yes | No (filled with a colour) |
| Animation | Yes | No (first frame only) |
| Supported by old software | Not always | Yes |
| Best for | Websites | Sharing, printing, editing |
Transparent and animated WebP
JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose. Animated WebP images are converted using their first frame, because a JPG holds a single picture.
If the result is larger than the WebP, that is normal: JPG compresses less efficiently. Lower the quality a little if file size matters.
Saving WebP images from the web
When you save an image from a web page, your browser often stores it as WebP because that is what the site served. Convert it here before using it in a document, presentation or print order.
Respect copyright: converting the format does not change who owns an image, so use pictures from the web only where you have permission.
Frequently asked questions
Why can I not open WebP files?
Some older programs do not support WebP yet. Converting to JPG makes the image open everywhere.
What happens to transparent areas?
They are filled with the background colour you pick, white by default.
Are my images uploaded?
No. They are converted in your browser.
Can I convert many files at once?
Yes, and download them together as a ZIP.
Why does my browser save images as WebP?
Websites send WebP to save bandwidth, so the browser saves the file in the format it received.
Why is the JPG bigger than the WebP?
WebP compresses more efficiently. Lower the JPG quality slightly for a smaller file.
